Validation Cases and Examples
Skarstrom ships with a set of ready-made simulation files based on published adsorption studies. They are the fastest way to learn the software: open one, inspect how it is set up, and adapt it to your own problem.
Load them from the Examples menu in the application — each is an ordinary .json simulation file you can modify and save under a new name.
Guided walk-through
- Ward 2022 — a single-component CO₂ breakthrough experiment on activated carbon, reproduced step by step from components through to validated outlet curves. Start here.
Bundled example cases
The Examples menu also includes, among others:
- Perez (2019)
- Streb (2021)
- Ward (2022) — breakthrough at several feed flow rates
- Nguyen (2022) and Nguyen (2023)
- Ward (2024)
- Arora (2021) — Li-LSX PSA and PVSA cycles
- Biogas PSA — an 8-step Skarstrom cycle
Working with an example
- Open the example from the Examples menu.
- Review each stage in the Navigation panel — fluid, adsorbents, column, cycle — to see how it is configured.
- Run the solver and plot the results; overlay the supplied experimental data where provided.
- Adapt parameters and Save As to build your own case.
